Health and Safety & Corporate Social Responsibility

We deliver an exceptional service that is driven by quality and we will go beyond the scope of our contractual duties to achieve our aims. Our operatives see themselves as part of the community in which they work, understanding at first hand the vision to create better communities.

SJ Cleaning is 100% committed to safe working. We are Safe Contractor accredited and are active members of a range of quality and safety oriented organisations.

You can view our accreditations page here.

Health and Safety

Our priority is to be committed to working safely at all times. As a provider to a number of housing associations and councils, we also have considerable experience of working with vulnerable clients and people. We currently work with organisations providing services on a monthly basis where we work for families, single people, older people and homeless people.

We are experienced in working at locations where there are people with mental capability challenges, people with learning difficulties, people with challenging behaviour and young people. We also provide services to Women's Refuges and fully understand the requirements for confidentiality and sensitivity. Amongst our staff we have female operatives who we can send if required to sensitive residential or faith locations. As an additional safeguard staff have been DBS checked.

We strive to perform exceptionally and understand that our best resource is our staff. We ensure that they are up to date with current guidelines and legislation and genuinely work in partnership with the organisations that we provide services too. As an example we have completed our modern slavery policy in conjunction with training, and to reinforce our safeguarding policy all of our staff have recently received a refresher course in safeguarding with the emphasis on vulnerable adults.

Our staff are highly trained, all have received IOSH 'Working safely' and managers 'Managing safely' training, along with NVQ level 2 in cleaning and support services. This is underpinned by a comprehensive internal training programme including regular toolbox talks. We go above and beyond minimum requirements and all of our contract managers and team leaders have achieved Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), which is a QCF course recognised by the HSE.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At SJ Cleaning we see the social value act as looking at the extra value that our company can bring. We know that our company's ethos adds something special that can't always be seen from just looking at figures. We put our service users first, often involving our customers who have a personal interest and experience of the issues and we have the skills and the drive to create genuinely better services.

As a family business with strong links to the area in which we work and as a supplier to a number of councils and housing associations we have favourably considered the implications of the act. We don't have large marketing departments and unlimited resources but what we do have is the drive and commitment to deliver our services to the local community in a way that can add value.

We are an ethical company and we understand our commitment to safeguarding and have spent a lot of time training our staff to understand exactly what this means and the actions we must take to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

SJ Cleaning further adds value by being passionate in what we do. We offer all of our clients loyalty, this means support, dedication and doing everything in our power to achieve clients goals and we see this as adding genuine value by delivering a service that truly helps our customers.
